Because of cancer risk in the family pedigree, which I did not fully know at the time of purchase, Gabbit will not be available for stud services until I see that his father is long lived. He will be collected for future use.

Gabbit (Gah Bee') joins Intention Hill from Slovakia at Kennel Elmar. He is bred by Juraj Paulovič. Gabbit has some foundation training on narcotics detection, and is my working stockdog on the farm. He has had to fill in for Jai, and has excellent natural instincts. His current routine tasks are to hold sheep off the gate, hold sheep off feed time, and move sheep between paddocks.

Gabbit is small but stout, extremely agile, and intense in his focus. He is very handler focused. With his strong biddability and handler focus, Gabbit's strong prey drive can be easily managed by voice commands. This deep focus also allows me to compete with him in Disc Dog and to use him as a demonstration dog at higher profile events. For example, Gabbit has performed Disc Dog demonstrations at two minor league baseball games for the Spokane Indians.

He has been shown lightly (Timberland 7/13-14). I was very pleased with his behavior at Timberland in particular. The show was very crowded, particularly in the shaded tents. He was calm and confident in the crowded conditions. That said, it is not his favorite thing. Gabbit is polite at crowded events, but he does not love people, and he is defensive of his home space.

In obedience he is beautiful, with instant and enthusiastic delivery of desired behaviors. In retrienve games, he is intensely driven.

Jean Matushek met Gabbit at the ABTC 2013 National Specialty. I brought him along for the ride. She had this to say about him:

From our standard: "In his relationship with humans he is observant and vigilant with strangers, but not apprehensive. He does not show fear or shyness. He does not show viciousness by unwarranted or unprovoked attack. He must be approachable, standing his ground and showing confidence to meet overtures without himself making them. With those he knows well, he is most affectionate and friendly, zealous for their attention and very possessive." That's Gabbit! Thank you so much for bringing him to Portland!"

Gabbit is a beautiful Mahagony with lovely rich hues and blackening. His coat is long, but not overly thick.
